The Night according to Jack, Part. 2
Wednesday, February 14th, 2007Some people are waiting for the end of my account, I’ve been told. Some people don’t even expect it anymore, I’ve been told too.
I know, it has been quite a moment since I wrote the first part, but, as the Scribe told you, I was very busy. But this another story…
So, the Night of Boz. If you don’t remember the first part, please read it first, I won’t sum it up.
The opening is over. The serious part can begin, or may I say, the un-serious part, the fun part. It takes place on the first floor, the dancefloor.
Before noticing the music, the screen behind the DJ catches my attention. I see barbwires, Innocents and in the middle of all this, myself. I’m pleased, briefly. Too briefly.
Indeed, after only some seconds, Me is on the floor, attracted by the charming dancing creatures.
I feel uneasy with the music first. It feels like a wall of sound hitting me in the face. I’m thrown by its loudness and its binary rhythm. Next to me, the Scribe grimaces. But soon the power of the basses pulsing along my spine make me change my mind. I begin to feel the music.
Me is the king of the dancefloor. Forget the screen, the spotlights, the other dancers. Forget everything and imagine a disco ball in the middle of the floor, moving dancing, charming girls. In a word : shining.
But Me is pudgy. His pretty mirrors are heavy. After 5 minutes, he’s bathing in sweat. After 10 minutes, his energy is gone. After 15 minutes, he leaves the floor and joins our friend the Scribe, in his hidden cosy corner.
The place is free.
From this point, my memory becomes troubled. Time gets blurred. My sensations disappear. Movements, faces are carried away by music and dance. Nothing or no one matters anymore, not even the Scribe who comes sometimes to check if I’m fine, an eye on his watch; not even Me who tries a short comeback on the dancefloor, before quickly withdraw to the bar.
It was my “Night of Boz”. Don’t ask for more, I don’t remember more. Don’t ask what I think about Matthew Herbert’s music, I was in trance. But I have a present, the Night’s video.
